As cinemas go, Copenhagen Empire Cinema in the Nørrebro district is sort of a revolution.
Since its opening earlier this year, neighboring theatres have experienced a serious attendance drop.
This is because the four screen cinema offers a film experience that lands somewhere between East Village art house and post modern Pathe Multiplex without neglecting the Danish Design. The first new cinema in the Danish capital in nearly 25 years, Empire Cinema has replaced all the chrome and neon with fresh flowers, wood panelling and double armrests. ' I couldn't do much about the films, so I improved the conditions, ' says owner and director Kenneth Madsen.
We can only hope others follow suit.
